Newark Senior High School 1959

The Class of '59 was the 101st class to graduate from this creaky old building located on West Main Street in Newark, Ohio. Our class was also the next to last to graduate from this historic structure. Architectural Plans for the new campus style high school were in our '59 Yearbook.

It was impossible to fall asleep in Nina Keckley's geometry class because winter's chill came blowing through two inch gaps in the windows at thirty-five miles per hour. The most memorable scene from that era was Vice-Principle George Stoeckman, leaning on the stature of Minerva during class breaks, making sure moral turpitude did not take place in the halls of this cherished learning academy.

Once our feet hit the pavement we never looked back.....
well until now, fifty years later.
